Growth in God.

Scripture:
Ephesians 1:16-17 NLT
I have not stopped thanking God for you.  I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

Observation of the Scripture:
The Apostle Paul is praying for us; that we grow in spiritual wisdom and insight of God.

Application to Life:
Without deeper insight and the wisdom of God we are not living our best life.  We see our life is about ‘x’ and desire for ‘y’, but without the full knowledge of God, we can’t even see that He has ‘Aa - Zz’ for us.  He has far more for us than we want for ourselves, we just have to put our focus on Him first, and He will take care of the rest (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are thankful that you never leave us where we are.  I pray that we continue to grow in spiritual wisdom to draw us closer to You.  No matter how much or little we read Your word right now, increase our desire in a way that excites our spirit.  We pray that Your desires for us overtake anything we want for ourselves because Your way is better.

Working.

Scripture:
Ephesians 6:7 NLT
Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Observation:
Christian employees should do their job as if Jesus Christ were their supervisor.  Ultimately the one we want to please is our Father in heaven.

Application:
I choose to work with a sincere heart, remembering that I am serving the Lord, whether I am answering to a supervisor or leading my own business.  I want my attitude, decisions, and effort to honor God, trusting that He sees and values my faithfulness even when others may not.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to work with a willing and joyful heart, remembering that everything I do is ultimately for You. Guide my attitude, my decisions, and my efforts so that they reflect Your character, whether I am being led or leading others. Teach me to seek Your approval above all else and to remain faithful in every assignment You place before me. In Jesus name, Amen.
